Hi all, it's been a while. Astra's hummin' along at 144,000 miles and behaving well. Until today.
She wouldn't start in Park. She will in Neutral. Is it the shift/park interlocking solenoid? Or something else (you with more experience than I)?
If it's the solenoid failure, is this part located in the tranny (which methinks would be expensive to replace) - or under the gearshift console (it's an automatic transmission) and therefore easy to replace?
Is fixing it necessary as it starts in Neutral - all things being equal (I realize there's a safety thing.) Would it pass inspection if it continues to start only in Neutral? (Virginia inspections are less rigorous than in some states I've lived in.)
Thanks so much,
