Default 2007 vue,no start,everything dead,then start right after?

I have a puzzling problem.Sometimes turn on key to start and nothing except maybe fuel pump noise, all lights on in dash.Try 3 or 4 times and I be darned it starts perfect,Its happening when engine is cold and also after driving.I cleaned battery posts and started heavy wire but not soloind wires, difficult to get at,Cleaned one ground wire to firewall, dont know if there are anymore.Would love to have some input as to what is wrong with my vue.Dont want to get stuck in snow and vue not start.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

If '05 Vue wiring diagrams are similar to '07's, there are two main grounds; battery to chassis and chassis to engine block.

Mileage of your Vue? Drive frequently in your local area with several starts, use this Vue for daily driving or a combination of the two? Mileage and frequency of starts are some factors affecting starter life. They can fail in as little as 50k miles or last beyond 150k miles. Since there are no guarantees of starter lasting beyond a new car warranty, its anyone's guess when they decide to fail. A few tests can help narrow it down to either a starter beginning to exhibit wear or something else is creating a zero starter problem.

If you are comfortable under the engine, one way to isolate a possible starter issue (bypassing the starting circuit entirely) by simply shorting two terminals on the starter solenoid together for a second or two; the small terminal (black/white stripe or purple wire) to the outer large terminal with battery cable connection (a second medium size wire connects to the alternator). Shorting these two starter solenoid terminals will power the starter immediately. Leave the ignition switch OFF to prevent engine starting. If the starter powers up immediately, remove the jumper and repeat this again. Each time the jumper is used, the starter should run. A failure of the starter to run tends to point to starter wear. Its presumed the battery is in good condition, battery cables and their connections are clean, free of corrosion and securely connected. In addition to testing the starter, the starting circuit can be checked with a multimeter.
The safest way to test the starting circuit is disconnecting the small wire from the small terminal on the starter. Be aware - the large battery cable on the starter is always HOT. If you are uncomfortable working on live voltage, disconnect battery negative first before disconnecting the small wire on the starter solenoid, then reconnect battery negative. With the small wire dangling clear, measure this wire for 12v; 12v volts will appear on this wire when the ignition switch is held in the START position. Have someone try starting while you measure for 12v on this wire. Ground is any part of the engine block or chassis. Repeat starting several times - 12v appear as long ignition is held in START position. 12v goes away as soon as the ignition switch is released back to ON/RUN position. If you see 12v on this wire every time in START, the starting circuit is fine and the starter is failing. When done with testing, disconnect battery negative before reconnecting the starter wire. After reconnecting the small wire, reconnect battery negative.

Starters are usually last in a list of intermittent starting problems with battery, battery cables and their connections more problematic. As vehicles age, starters wear down and eventually wear out.

One easy thing to try next "no-crank" event ... hold key to START and move gear shift knob fore and aft (in PARK or NEUTRAL) to see if it makes a difference.

The 04-07 Vues with 3.5 also have a start relay. Its cleverly hidden and rules keep me from posting a photo but you can find in post # 6 of this thread:
