Default Intermittent Front speakers

I'm trying to help my grandmother out with the speakers in her car. Both speakers in the front cut out a lot. Most of the time they don't work at all but when they do work they sound fine. So I don't think they're blown, maybe a bad wire? I was gonna just swap the speakers in the rear to the front to test if it was a bad wire but based on what I've read, the front speakers are 6.5 and the rears are 6X9. So swapping them probably wont work. (Plus they seem like a pain to get out.) Has this problem happened to anyone else? Or does anyone know of a better way to test whats wrong?

Thank you

Since the speakers are intermittent it may be caused by corroded connector plugs. I had a blown speaker, replaced both front and later had the intermittent speaker issue, cleaned up the connections and they've been working fine since.

If you are going to the trouble of removing the doors, you may consider replacing the speakers. These are are an inexpensive option. https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TSA16...ype=automotive

Is there a guide somewhere on how to remove the doors? I've noticed Aura doesn't seem to be as well documented on YouTube as the S-series

Also, from what I read don't you need to cut some plastic to install new speakers into the door? Or maybe that was for the a pillar tweeters?

Door panel removal...Most Malibu/G6 procedures are interchangeable with Aura.

Pretty much the way I cut the plastic for my speakers...You'll need to customize it for your particular speaker. I soldered the original speaker plug to the new speaker so it still plugged in. Make sure to clean the connections and use some dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. I didn't and had to go back in later to do it.
