2005 VUE 3.5L
2005 VUE 3.5L
Default Interchangeability of Trim Parts

Can anyone provide info on how interchangeable interior and exterior trim parts are on pre-2008 VUEs? I have a 2005 V6, which I love, but I like the trim of the 2007.
Suppose it was worth it to me to replace the cupholder storage console with a 2007 console bought at a salvage yard or on eBay. Or the center console lower cover that has the plastic pockets built in? Or replacing my door panels so I can have the plastic storage pockets instead of the nets? And what about the exterior "flair", like chrome logo trim panels on the grill and liftgate?
Would all those things bolt right in directly? I've looked around on here but it seems like most folks haven't considered such things, or don't think it's worth the effort.

Again- I really adore my VUE, but after seeing the changes in the later model years, I kind of want to mod mine. Any input? Thanks.

Buy the parts and if they don't fit, sell on Ebay.

Default Re: Interchangeability of Trim Parts-Answering one of my own questions

It turns out that the storage console between the seats from a 2006/2007 bolts right in where the 2005's came out. There were two issues for me doing the swap- it's REALLY hard to reach the screws on the side of the console, and the wiring harness plug was different on the "new" console. I just had such a hard time UNscrewing the old one- slid the seats forward, backward, middle- I couldnt get enough pressure with a screwdriver with the way I had to reach under the seats. If you have a smaller power screwdriver you might have an easier time (if you feel like doing this). Also, the plug on the car floor is different, so I snipped my old one off and wire-nutted it to the new console. Screwing back in was easier for some reason, and now I have more storage, cleaner look (IMO) and an extra hidden power port. I'm quite happy with it.
