1995 SL2
1999 SL2
Default 95 Sl2 Saved

Hello all,
After rolling my 1994 56k 5spd Sl2 and gutting it, I began to search again for another, keeping in mind that I have a whole interior and powertrain for a new one. I searched and searched, and almost gave up the search opting to keep driving our 1999 98k Auto Sl2, when I finally found the one. It was on facebook marketplace, and needed a subframe badly. Second owner (mother bought it new) with 152k on it. Fairly well maintained, but It failed safety inspection though passing emissions with flying colors. The owner just wanted it gone. Poorly shifting auto, bad motor mounts, exhaust leak (although the entire system was replaced a few years ago), but 4 new tires and a nice body. I jumped on it, and brought it home. From there I cleaned it with the help of my brother (pgagl) and I swapped in my 5 speed trans as well as pedals and shifter assembly from a wagon at our local u-pull-it. I found a mint subframe for cheap and installed that as well as new westar motor mounts and moog lca's. I threw on my old sawtooth rims and gave it a good scrubbing, and the car looks so close to my old one. The interior cleaned up well too, especially with my old cd player and center armrest installed. So now, this car has a new lease on life as a 5 speed. It needs some attention in the rocker areas, but once I learn to weld I plan on tearing into it next summer and really cleaning it up. For now it gets a second chance.

P.S. I am searching for a 4 post factory spoiler for this, color doesn't matter.

Heck, I thought the 'before' pictures were pretty nice, other than the seats, visors, and rust.

But the after pictures are amazing. Looks like it just rolled off the line.

Nice work!

Thanks! I have some work to do in the interior, like putting in my matching floor mats and a deep carpet scrubbing. The seats are a little dirty and one spot has some wear, but nothing major. I still have a full set of mint seats to go in once its done being worked on... Unless I save them for 25 years down the road.
