![]() Well, I bought a 2008 Sky Red Line. I found one problem. No matter how hard I push down on the top when it's down, the trunk does not want to latch. At least according to the warning light on speedo. And if I try driving, HOO-BOY, does that make the car mad. It starts screaming like bells of St Mary. What gives?

![]() Two things at work here. The sensor for it being closed, and the latch itself. The latch has two bolts that can be loosened. You can then move it up and down as needed to get the tightness you want.
The sensor may be part of the latch. I don't know, so you'll need to check that out.

![]() Well, I thought I solved the problem. Today the trunk refused to latch correctly. I practically stood on the top. The only thin I think of is since the temp was 90+F, the kit expanded enough to keep it from fitting.

![]() Yeah, you're going to have to get into the latch area, loosen those two bolts, and slide it up a tad. Should be easy to do though.

![]() Open the trunk and locate the latching ring on the lid. Use it to locate the locking latch inside the car. If necessary, pull the carpet back from the latch. You should see two bolts which attach the latch to the car. The bolts go through slotted holes to allow for some amount of up and down movement of the latch. If you loosen the bolts you can move the latch up a bit to make locking the lid easier.
Let me know if you'd like me to locate this in my factory service manual. I can send you the diagram and, importantly, the torque spec of those bolts.

Is the latch in this file? If not, may I have a copy of the info from your manual?

![]() Didn't see it in your file set, but I'm attaching the page from my manual. One shot shows the location of the two bolts. The other shows the torque spec for them.
I've never actually adjusted the latch myself, but have been told by others that this is where the tightness of closing is set. I assume the bolts go through slotted holes. Let us know how it works!
