I see only PROs.
Cheap initial purchase .... you could purchase anther one for the price of one of today’s significant automotive repair jobs!
Reliable
Fuel efficient
Inexpensive insurance rates
Low property taxes
Easy repairs when you do it yourself
Inexpensive professional repairs (or no more expensive than fixing any other car)
Fun to drive... low slung and sporty
25 year old classic car (these cars are becoming unique stand outs on todays roads.)
Technologically advanced*

*bring your smartphone into the car and you have 90% of the bells and whistles that contemporary automobiles have.

CON
You don’t belong to the dumbed down masses that feel like second class citizens unless they are driving around in a brand new car and are shackled by the ankle with a monthly car payment (probably 1/3 to 1/5 of what your 93 Saturn will cost you) for many years.

By the way, what is the purchase price?

...
• 1997 SW2 used 12/29/2011 with 124,200 -27 mpg
• 2004 Ion3 new 11/2003 (totaled) 11/2011 -23 mpg
• 1994 SL1 new traded
• 1992 SL2 new traded for above
* 1986 Yamaha ce50 Jog -100 mpg

I'd do it. Key thing to check for is rust underneath. More detail, I'm sure you will get more opinions.

Your Saturn lasts 6 month’s and there’s no harm done.
After 6 month’s it’s all gravy (gravy is a good thing).

I paid $1,500.00 for my SW2 so I’ve been enjoying gravy for over 6 years.

Con: constant need to check the oil

Pro: cheap to buy, cheap to insure, cheap parts, easily repairable. cheap to drive. Massive documentation of how to fix / troubleshoot

Absolutely no fear that some kid will ding your doors by opening theirs too far or parking too close to you.

***

Paid $800 for my first Saturn, the '98 in my sig line and avatar. Probably a few hundred bucks in repairs over the years, drove it for 8 years / 100k miles and I can still hop into it (after buying a new battery, new tires, and adding oil ) and drive across country
