Default Stealing refrigerant now?

Yes folks, it's come to this with verified reports of removing refrigerant from several homes. Channel 13 WTHR from Westfield, Indiana; https://www.wthr.com/article/westfie...-from-ac-units. Westfield residents searching for thief stealing coolant from AC units (central hvac). The only way I know of removing a few pounds of refrigerant and storing it in a canister is by way of regular vacuum pump, hoses, gauges, maybe a scale, recycling canister and time. Oh and let's not forget, whoever steals refrigerant must have known when the homeowner was away since pumps aren't quiet and there must be an outlet nearby or tapping off the service outlet powering the hvac unit......... my guess is at least 10 minutes if not more, waiting for the pump to suck out refrigerant unless these thieves are using a large capacity pump made for commercial buildings with multiple ton units. Time for more surveillance cameras......

Why didn't I come up with that line! I can't believe how much of a blockhead I am sometimes! You're absolutely right, michaellowry, it does turn out alright after people have had things stolen from them, have had their cars or houses burglarized - it just does. They always get their stolen belongings returned to them along with a note from the thief or burglar expressing their regretfulness for their anti-social and criminal behavior, expressing their sorrow, and including an interest penalty payment to boot. Wow!!!
