Default Headlight "fog"?

Hi all Saturnites,
I haven't been having a big problem with that "haze" or white "fog" that gradually forms over the clear lenses of my headlights but have a question about preventing it. It's light enough where I can remove it with just some rubbing with a wet rag and toothpaste. After cleaned off, it stays off for a while but eventually returns. Since I'm going to be touching up my paint on the car and top coating that paint with a glossy seal, if I spray that glossy seal over the headlight lens, anyone know if that will keep the haze off them for "years"? Thanks for any valued experience with this.

I haven't done it myself yet but my plan for restoring my headlights is various levels of wet sanding and then finish with a clear coat. That's what I got from a YouTube video anyway

You can buy a replacement pair of headlights with bulbs for <$50 delivered on Amazon. I was thinking that would be a lot easier than wet sanding/recoating the lenses.

Anyone given these a try? I was thinking about trying a replacement pair sometime this year.

Thanks, guys for the info. My current headlights aren't bad enough to replace, again, just some rubbing with toothpaste will remove the "fog". Just might try the spray clear coat. According to the clear coat spray can I have, it does protect for U/V. I'll clean them really well before spraying and hope for the best. Thanks, all.
