Default Motor mount replacement

Noticed the dog bone motor mounts on my Saturn are shot and thatís why it must be vibrating so much. Any recommendations on kits for this?

www.rockauto.com

Rubber will absorb more vibrations. Polyurethane will last longer. It is pretty much personal preference, with these.

The dog bones donít absorb much vibration so go with the poly for long life. The dog bones prevent the engine from clunking around during hard acceleration. The top mount get 75% of the vibration and the bottom tranny mount about 20%. So that only leaves about 5% for the dog bones.

Is there any good way to determine if the bottom tranny mount needs to be replaced? Will it typically crack/tear making the failure visible? Or will it just get compressed and less functional, but still visibly "look" good.

Mine has never been replaced, but I am not sure how much of an effect it would have on smoothing out vibration, and whether it's worth the effort to replace.

The bottom tranny mount will collapse. If the rubber is holding the tranny above the base of the mount itís good.
