Default 97 sl1 cruise control constant accelleration.

hi just joined the forums and i have a question i have previously not been able to find an answer to. i have a 97 SL1 manual and when i set the cruise control it wants to constantly accelerate. i have replaced the steering wheel switch and it changed nothing. the indicator light comes on and the coast button works but shortly after pressing it the cruise wants to jump to hyperspace again.

Replace the module down on the right side of the steering column, 96-02 will all swap fine.

thank you for the really fast response. i had suspected that was the faulty component because recently i was down there looking at the wiring harness condition while i had the radio removed and it all looked secure.

You can find these modules at the pick and pull yard or ebay. Be sure that you can send it back if bad. P&P will be the lowest cost in most cases.

Before removing the old alternator verify the new one looks like the old one. The difference between the 2 possible alternators is the presence or absence of a fan next to the pulley.
