Default Installing 1996 DOHC in a 2000 SC2

I have a 2000 SC2 that has no compression in #2. I found a rebuilt '96 engine for a good price. I know the engines are different. What's different and can I install the '96 in the 2000 car by swapping a manifold, etc?

For example, I believe the intakes are different. One metal and one plastic. One sidedraft throttle body and one downdraft. Will the sensors and connectors on the plastic downdraft (what I have on the 2000) connect to the metal sidedraft (what I believe is on the 1996)? The air filter box would need to change too.

What other things are different and will they move over? Open to hear thoughts on whether this is worth doing.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

No experience, but I think you want to keep everything from the '96, including intake and exhaust manifolds (and maybe downpipe).

You want to use the injectors and fuel rail from the '00 though, I believe

Probably should wait until someone with experience chimes in

1998 SC2
Default Re: Installing 1996 DOHC in a 2000 SC2

This question has been answered in detail, use the large search box. Search "engine swap" and then look at the various posts titles to see how to narrow it down.

Keep the 96 exhaust all the way to the back of the cat. Use the TPS from the 00 as the connector is different and probably the knock sensor. The rest drops in. Intake piping from the 96. All of the other electronics and injectors will be OK unless the 00 has the long skinny injectors and then it is best to either buy the connector adapters or cut and splice so you can say with the old style injectors. Your big issue is the 96 has the regulator on the rail and the 00 does not. A 98 fuel rail is the easy fix for this as it is also a returnless fuel system.
