Default Cruise control fails intermittently. 2009 Vue.

The cruise control fails intermittently on my 2009 Vue. Replaced brake pedal switch but still has the same symptoms. Cruise on light works all the time but when setting the cruise it only engages less than 20% the time. I noticed sometimes it will blink on for just a second and go right back off. Any ideas? Could it be the clock spring? Maybe the set switch? Anyway to easily test?

I recently had this with my '04.

Have the battery tested. Mine was bad. Started the car just fine, but wouldn't keep steady voltage when running.

After the new battery, no more issues with the cruise.

Mine seems to be related to my ABS wheel sensor not working all the time. My front left wheel speed sensor has been acting up for some time and has produced a C0035 code. Any way I noticed my brake warning light is on most of the time but occasionally goes out and if it's out the cruise control will work.
My ABS light is also on all the time but it by itself does not seem to affect the cruise control from working.

My guess is the brake light circuit is probably one factor, disabling cruise control when the brake indicator is on.

In order of priority with regards to safety, brakes are more important than abs/tc. Losing abs/tc (in normal situations) won't affect brakes. The abs light remaining on with error code (C0035) indicates abs and tc are disabled until the left front wheel sensor, wiring or reluctor are inspected for damage and repaired to restore abs/tc function. As you already know, brakes still work. Cruise control may be affected by the brake light circuit. The brake light warning indicator randomly turning on takes priority over abs/tc and cc. In perspective, the brake light is alerting you to one of several problems; brake fluid loss from leak (damaged brake line), worn brakes lowering brake fluid level triggering the brake light (low fluid), parking brake switch damaged or parking brake lever not released completely. The brake indicator and any related fault takes priority over faulty abs/tc and cc.

You're most likely describing several problems and addressing them in order of importance may be the best way to fix them. Brakes takes precedence here when the brake light indicator randomly turning on and off. Either inspect your brakes or have them inspected to determine why the brake light turns on. The park brake lever turns on the brake light when left pulled up and ignition is ON. Simply holding the release button and pulling up slightly should turn on the brake light indicator and lowering the lever should turn it off. Its rare for brake switch failure but they do fail sometimes.

If brake fluid is below the low limit level, refrain from topping off fluid as this is deliberately ignoring brake inspection. When disc brakes wear, brake fluid fills the voids in calipers (pistons move away from home position, leaving a void, using fluid drawn from the brake master cylinder to fill caliper voids. As disc brakes wear down, fluid level drops until the low level sensor detects it and turns on the brake light indicator. Topping off is a mistake made by many and may lead to loss of brakes if brakes are worn down.

Update: Turns out the brake light warning was coming on do to low brake fluid level. Should also throw a code C0267 which for some reason I kept ignoring.

Brake fluid level was about 1/4" above minimum mark. Looks like there is a little over an inch from Min to Max range. Filled up to just under Max went for test drive and brake light warning never came on. Also I noticed while looking at the brake reservoir that the brake fluid level switch is on the left hand side so that when you make a right hand turn it would force the fluid higher up on the switch.

This apparently will disable the cruise control circuit.
