Default Transmission leaking from filter pan?

A few months ago my 2007 Saturn aura xe began to lose acceleration power and upon investigation it's leaking transmission fluid. The rate it leaks seems to be fairly constant. It's a fairly large leak as it is entirely out of fluid within a week. Anyway we parked it for a while and now that I have some money I wanted to look further into the issue. It looks like it's leaking from the pan exactly opposite of the oil drain bolt. I can't see a stream coming from any higher and when I wipe it off it immediately resumes. Have any of you guys seen anything like this? What might have caused it, or what else it could be...

Default Re: Transmission leaking from filter pan?

Welcome to SaturnFans, joshuah459!

Yes, this is a very large transmission fluid leak. It seems that you should have a four speed automatic, but according to some catalogs it's possible for there to be a six speed automatic as well. Which one do you have?
What is this vehicle's mileage?
Has the transmission been serviced recently?
Is there any ATF leaking from the axle seals?
Possible reasons for this leak: loose or missing transmission oil pan bolt/bolts; weak gasket needing replacement; damaged trans. oil pan or fracture in the case (both less likely).

...
278,000 miles-it keeps on rolling!

Gov't's grown bigger, but a chance exists that it will be reduced. I'm cautiously hopeful.
