Default After changing ECTS, gen 3 temp gauge at 1/2, is this okay

I recently had the ECTS and connector changed as the car was boiling over before reaching halfway on the temp gauge. Now the temp gauge stays at 1/2 at normal operating temp, and the fan kicks on at 5/8. This seems to be fine but as the gauge consistently read 3/8 for many years, I thought I should ask. I changed the ECTS out about 8 or 9 years ago, so it's been brass-tipped all that time.

Did the replacement ECTS stop the boiling over issue?
Whoever did the replacement, was the connector and wiring clean & bright?

If so, and the gauge now reads slightly different I would just ignore the old position and accept the new needle position as your specific car's NORMAL.
These dash gauges are not pinpoint-reliable....if you need more reliable data, use a live data scanner.

As long as it started at the left end of the scale and slowly came to 1/2 then don't worry about it. If you installed a new thermostat that will result in higher than normal initial readings.

A snap jump to 1/2 is a PCM sign that the ECTS is failed.
