Default Detailing Advice Needed

Hello! I am attempting to detail my car after watching a ChrisFix video. However, my 97 SC2 has quite a few rock chips from 20 years of highway and gravel roads. Is it still okay to wax chipped paint?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Of course, it cannot hurt & it still provides some protection to the base even if its plastic panels or metal (hood n roof).
