Default Engine compatibility

We have a totaled 07 ion, lvl 2. Found a 04 ion thst needs a motor. Both are autos. Will our 07 bolt in an run in the 04 chassis? Or will I have to swap all the 07 drive train to the 04, are the electrical connections the same?

Im sure the short block should be fine, from the head up there were changes made 2005 / 2006 The main difference will likely be the head, specifically the smog system. The 07 has a secondary air system and the cam / crank sensor is in the head. The 07 is also drive by wire no throttle cable, they also have independent coils instead of all four in a module.
I would ask a dealer service dept to get a better answer. bring the VIN of both vehicles and any decent tech will be able to let you know. Just be willing to buy him/her a cup of coffee.

Default Re: Engine compatibility

The 04 used an Aisin five speed auto. The 07 used the GM 4 speed.

There might be complications there.
