I have a 1999 sw2 automatic will a 1995 sl2 transmission fit and work correctley

A '95 auto trans? Yes, that should go into the '99 fine.

Ok i will next time , but thanks for the info was there any up dates on the later automatic transmissions or are the 95 & 99 units the same ?

I believe they are identical. I have a '97 TAAT in a '95 car (DOHC).

They are not identical. Look at the gear ratio chart I linked. The 95 will function correctly if it is in good mechanical shape in your 99.

Ha, I'll try again. I'm guessing the ratio differences are too slight for you to notice if the PCM won't set a "wrong gear ratio" code.

The final drive ratio is not a concern but reverse is and as long as you do not drive over 15mph or so then it will not be noticed. Reverse has a higher ratio in the 95.

Yes, at somewhere in that speed range or above the TCU will detect the gear mismatch after a time delay from what is programmed as SLIP and get all excited and start setting codes and disabling things. Don't think anyone has actually tested it out though.
