Default were did you come from,were did you go for that little hole

hey guys! so in need of a little help, was out last night went to 711 shut my car off got my stuff and came out, started my car (2000 sl2 dohc) and the idle was high got it home in one piece pulled the battery out thinking maybe the iac or the tps went all funky on me ,turns out it was my positive crankcase hose had popped off but i also noticed there was a hole on the passenger side of my intake manifold for another vacuum line but nothing in its place, i put my finger over the hole and can feel a vacuum being pulled the rpms dont go up or down the car just smooths out on idle ill post pics of it and maybe you guys can tell me if i should leave it or put a hose on and clamp it off ,thanks guys!

If you do not have a secondary air injection system on the engine then there should be a cap on the vacuum port. If you have air injection then you should have the vacuum line like the one in your picture.

how do i know if i have one or not? is it like a aftermarket add on?

Secondary air injection is an OEM emissions device. Your car probably came with it but it may have been removed by a previous owner. I think it was standard after 1999 on the S series.

You'll have a silver tube exiting the exhaust - look at your engine, it'll come out of the exhaust area and turn 90 degrees to the passenger side; goes into a disk-looking thing, connected to a bunch of other stuff and a big, black cylindrical plastic covered air pump
