Default Compatible parts between gens?

I currently have an 02 SL2 with a bad rod bearing, so I bought a 91 SC as a cheap replacement. Are any parts compatible? I don't want to get rid of my sl2 but I don't have the time or money to fix it, and can't find anything online. Thanks in advance

Eek..

You would be hard pressed to find any parts that are compatible between 1st and 3rd Gen cars- even from the standpoint of going from a Sport Coupe (SC) to an SL (Sedan)...

The SOHC engines are different from the DOHC engines... not only from a standpoint of HP- but the gear ratios were different as well...as well as the PCM are different too...

You *may* be able to do some swapping with modifications if you are just doing engine pieces... Just my thoughts.

Seats? (but not seatbelts/holder bolted on) . . . and wheels. Maybe manual trans. Probably a few miscellaneous sensors

'91 was the first production model year, and a lot changed.

The 1991 and 1992 SC had the DOHC engine; there was no SOHC coupe available.

In 1993, Saturn introduced the SC1 with SOHC engine and renamed the SC to SC2.

Some engine parts may swap over, but the early cars did not have a top mount so the timing cover would be different.

We have a swap guide. . . it's a lot of reading

probably would have been cheaper to get a ring and bearing kit, I don't know why you would pull that out of a donor car? but I will for sure say its hard to mix and match. we converted a 93 sc1 to a 2000 sc2, that required a whole lot of fabrication, and had to pull harness, everything on the engine and ACE then relocate battery because of where the ECU mounts our 93 brake master cylinder is in the way of the ecu mount. no we actually have the freedom to do that on our race car. but we noted that the 98 we bought as a second donor to the project really didn't have much to offer, most parts had some little difference that made it unusable. so pretty much wasted 200 dollars. barely made our money back on parts because we were able to use the struts and some suspension parts.

but we completely tore down and rehabbed the motor to include a ring, seal and bearing kit. and that was pretty cheap to have all new seals and gaskets and crank bearings.

You bought the absolute worst year for compatibility you could for owning an 02 and buying a 91.
