Title says 1.9 DOHC 1996... Unless that was edited in after your comment..
On the cover, I would try local U Pull It yards or Pick N Pulls. Maybe also call around to normal junk yards and see if anybody has one.

'92-'98 timing covers swap, '91's are all screwed up and '99+ are too narrow for the '91-'98 head. GM also says the SOHC & DOHC timing covers swap (valve covers won't swap that way).

I agree with cgg17's post above. A wrecking yard, whether it's a traditional one or "pick and pull" for yourself, is your least expensive and most likely source for finding the timing cover. If you're not likely to go and pull your own part, and you need more options for availability, you might consider using the website below for wrecking yards nearby and across the country (even outside of the country). I've used businesses in Michigan and Kansas, or Missouri - I can't quite recall between these two states - so they'll ship parts to wherever you are with the additional cost.

(Plug in the necessary information.)

One GM OE parts website claims availability for a new timing cover (although I suspect an inaccuracy there).

Item no. 12 on the schematic and price list.

I'd suggest a '98 cover, if you can find one. For sure, '98 has the extra port in the oil pump cover that gives extra oil to the timing chain. I'm pretty sure, but not 100%, that '97 also had this port but '96 and earlier did not..

+1 on pulling the cover yourself. That way, you can get spare bolts for free. No matter how careful you are (I used Ziploc bags, another put them in a magnetic tray), those buggers have a way of escaping and it's usually the center bolts, not the outer ones
