Default Leak in trunk and driver door

After a significant rain, the driver door ends up with a puddle of water inside and the driver side trunk area by the wheel well ends up pretty wet as well. Are these related to the same issue and how can I determine where it originates? Is this an issue with the sunroof drain? From what I've read about that, the water seems to end up inside the car but I don't have any leaks in the cabin so far as I can tell.
