1998 SL2
2006 ION Red Line
Default 2006 RL Comp Package trans trouble

06 Ion Redline Comp. Have had the car for a week and I love it so far....

However the trans is giving me trouble. It pops out of 5th gear when it gets hot going at around 60 mph under light load.
It also grinds going into 4th when hot once or twice a day, esp during the 5-4 shift.

The fluid looks clear, but maybe I should change that first with the GM OEM stuff?

Is it safe to say that the real solution for this issue is a re build??
Are trans problems pretty common with these cars?

My 96 SL2 and 98 SL1 have joined together to become one. So I guess I now have a 1996/8
