Default 2004 Ion-1 sedan upgrades please help

Hi sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here but the information is scattered. I have a 2004 Saturn Ion-1 sedan and I'm attempting to do some upgrades to it. I know that it isn't really one of the most desirable years but i know you can do some. pretty much i want to upgrade the intake and exhaust but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. I do live in ohio so i don't have to worry about emissions and such. please if someone can help that would be awesome.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Have you had it for long? Stick, or auto?

Maintenance is up to date?

....... haven't contaminated the MAF with stupid K&N air filter oil yet?

Good, because dry element air filters are the way to go.

OIled( wetted foam or pleated) filters work, but it's like using an old 386
( huh?)computer processor and it's too easy to screw it up ,as well as they let in too much dirt.

Does your IOn have an intake "bong"?
YOu can remove that, it won't do didly... but it will make your intake drone when you want to be a WFO.

well ive had it about 3 years now and im currently catching back up on maintenance. had a little bit of hard financial times. it is automatic but not the CVT (thank god 😨 they suck). but itz still an amazing car one of the best ive ever had actually. no k&n air filter i was thinking short ram cold air wouldnt work because of how wet and nasty it gets in the winter.
