Default OK, whose SC2 is that on "Fresh Off the Boat"?

OMG, it's gorgeous.

Watching the comedy Fresh Off the Boat, set in the '90s. The daughter of the neighbors mentions that her dad bought her a Saturn.

Moments later, scene shifts to her pulling up in a gorgeous first gen SC2. It looks brand new, seats are perfect, the sliding seatbelts run smoothly, and the sunroof works!

The SC2 really looks like it just came off the lot. no scratches in the paint, no curb rash on OEM wheels, etc. Anyone know about this car?

One of the downsides of not watching TV is I have no idea what people are referencing most of the time. This would be one of those times. On the other hand, that leaves me with more time in the shop to rebuild saturns and so on!

It's a pretty obscure show, but has funny moments. It's set in the mid 90s, so a lot of period references.

What's neat is the attention to detail, especially the cars - the main family has a boxy second generation Dodge Caravan with woody sides

Neighbor's dad drives what looks to be a convertible Cadillac Allante; he just bought his daughter (high school) a new Saturn. All the cars are what they would have looked like in the 90s, not like 90's cars in 2017

I perked up when she said that dad bought her a new Saturn for doing better in school (not being held back or something).

Total shocker when the next scene showed her driving a mint first gen SC2. Leather seats with not a single wear crease visible on the bolsters, and the motorized seat belts went up and down.

Ultimate shocker, she pressed the button and the sunroof moved

That would be cool. The Saturn is in at least two different scenes, both interior and exterior shots in each scene. You can the passenger seat clearly in a couple scenes, but the driver (and left bolster) are mostly hidden. My guess is either this car is never driven, or the show had the seats covered/recovered.

It was weird watching the sunroof open and shut, and the shoulder belt go up and down - I've never seen either in real life!

That was the clincher for me back in '09 when I purchased my '93. NO SUNROOF? Sold!!!

My seatbelt mice still soldier on trouble free. Heck I just had to replace my first headlight bulb ever after over 116k miles of ownership. It has been a great run. First gens are awesome

I was kind of hoping not to have a sunroof because of all the reported issues, but my '02 has one.

Even though it is inop at the moment, I like having sunlight once in a while. I will fix it eventually as I've always liked the ventilation. Once fixed, it should be trouble free as long as I maintain it.

Wasn't keen on 3rd gens for several reasons and said I would not buy one, but it has really grown on me
