2000 SL1
2007 SKY Red Line
Default Cranks but wont turn over

I'm looking at a 1998 SL1 5 speed. It sat around for a long while apparently and now it won't start. It reads no gas, so I put 4 gallons of premium in and still no start. Even after filling reads no gas. It will turn over and starts briefly with carb cleaner in the air intake! The battery is full on charge. Any ideas before I pass on this one?

Do you hear the familiar buzz from the fuel pump when you turn the key to ACC, before going all the way to START? If not, check the UHFB box fuse also.

If you put 4 gallons in the tank, the gauge should be above a , and just below about 5/8.

If it is still reading "E", then check your fuel pump fuse, as well as the wiring and plug to your fuel pump.

No signal from the sending unit(i.e. Missing/Blown fuse) will leave the gauge at "E", instead of the typical "Above F by a tank" common on other GM vehicles.
