Default Highmile. End of the road?

Backstory, driving down my driveway looking at a HUGE buck with what is going to be a HUGE rack all in velvet still and as I imagining him hanging on my living room wall while enjoying a nice bbqd back strap when WHAM!!.... drove off the edge of the driveway and thru the ditch with the right front. Bounced HARD, really hard. Bounced us hard enough that it turned the windshield wipers on. I might have been going 10mph but even that is a stretch.

So, pulled the end out of the sway bar 3/16 or so and way out of alignment needless to say. Replaced the sway bar but wheel is still about 3/8 back from where it should be. Tried slotting the bolt holes in the top of the strut attach but things are still way out. They recommended a body shop saying it could be a LCA, strut, sub frame, etc etc etc.

The strange part is that after slotting the strut attach (which I actually did myself) the car drives straight with only the slightest of pull to the right.

So when time allows Ill pull it back in my shop and pull the wheel/brakes/etc and disassemble the pieces and parts. Hoping for something simple and bolt on.

Check the inner LCA attachment bracket as it is only spot welded to the cradle and the cradle may be buckled in that area. Also check the other side as the entire cradle can twist.

You can't give up yet - someone has to put a million miles on one of these cars. As OldNuc said, the LCA to cradle connection is a weak point.

Once you tear apart the car's suspension and get a proper diagnosis, look for some quality used parts to repair with.

We have 4 you pull it type yards close to me. Parts are not an issue. Finding the right part to replace might be.

Well I had a lenghtly and enlightening afternoon with Mr Stanley. After checking several points on the subframe, checked for bent strut, etc, it was deemed that the replacement sway bar needed to come off for further analysis.

That analysis yielded some interesting information. It was bent and bent on the same side as my impact. So back to the salvage yard for a replacement.

In addition, the time with Mr Stanley showed the LCR attach points were good as well as all the other points we could measure. And there were a bunch of them. All points were measured from the cutout around the rear trailing arms when possible.

After being reassembled, Mr Stanley is showing the right wheel is now within a 1/16" of the left for fwd/aft and the camber and caster are well within adjustable limits.

We will know after another stop at the alignment shop.

As a shout out to the locally owned businesses.... I deal with Kennedy Tire in Festus Mo and they've had the car on the rack twice so far and have not charged me a dime. I think I'll have a couple of pizza's delivered once we get done.

Usually you have to actually hit the deer to bend the car. No points for just driving through the ditch.

Those small local shops are great.

Alignment appnt is at 4 local time and then I have some things to do after.

I'll update when I can.

I've been driving it as is and have to stay that it really doesn't feel too bad. No pulling at all but I can tell it is out.
