Default Key stuck

The key was stuck in the ignition until I disconnected the battery. That is the shift interlock switch right? If so where is it.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

If you have not done the recalls yet, that is step one.

Default Re: Key stuck

Rob: if your car is an automatic there is a small square panel under the steering wheel. Take that off and feel for a little button inside. That button will release the key.

You can do that until you have the recall done. It may still happen after replacing the final recall switch [as mine did ] and the fix was [and I received a letter from GM regarding the possibility of this] BTSI replacement. Also covered by GM.

After 10 years it's finally fixed and if the BTSI goes again, I'm going to leave the little panel off and diddle the button till the day the car dies.

The BTSI on mine [in the console, see a thread here in the ION Tech forum] was replaced three times, the switch, four, over those 10 years.

I applied for the reimbursement after the 3rd one I had to pay for myself and got it.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
