The Dodge SRT-4 is going to be priced under 27K CDN. Going to be interesting to see what the RedLine QC will be priced at.

But how long will the Dodge NEON last?
Apparently, the turbo-charged NEON engine that they use in the PT Crusier GT is blowing up left and right, so if they use the same engine with a different S/C, is the SRT going to have problems, too? Anyone know yet? ... *Drive it like you bought it. *2003 ION-3m Sedan *1999 Lincoln Town Car Signature

I'm pretty sure it is the same engine. Also the SRT-4 turbo seems prone to breaking down, but that may be because the owners are not letting it cool down before shutting off the engine.
The Red Line QC will be priced around the same as the SRT-4 in the $20K range.

They put the 2.4L from the stratus in the SRT-4, its just built a little stronger-I dont think it will have a problem lasting-at least as much as any other turbo motor.

This engine is the 2.4l PowerTech engine, designed and built in Mexico. It's the same 2.4l minivan engine that's been around since the mid-'90s. It's that same as the 2.0l Neon engine, but is a DOHC engine with a longer stroke and bigger block. It's also used in such vehicles as PT Cruiser GT, Stratus, concept vehicles, etc.
Anyone and everyone that owns one, generally blows a head gasket by the 60k mile mark. Even the Mopar sites are well aware of this problem. While they are prone to numerous other failures, you're just asking for trouble if you strap a turbo charger onto one and race the engine more than normal passing in traffic. As far as I know, they did no modification over the traditional 2.4l when they put it in the SRT-4, aside from turbo and such. Why someone would voluntarily want one of these things is beyond me. That said, I have owned a 2.0l Neon... Not that I had much of a choice at the time. It was also relatively trouble-free, only because I seldom raced the engine past normal driving habits. All other Neon owners that I've ever met have had a rediculous amount of problems with them, especially with the head gaskets. Chrysler is long overdue for a replacement engine... Not something that's built off of a 15 year-old Mitsubishi design.

The SRT-4 is just a turbocharged econobox engine thrown into a POS ancient shared chassis.
Why else would it be so cheap?
