Default Key won't turn to shut engine off

I started the car, but now the key won't turn back the shut off the engine. The engine is still running.

It's a 92 Saturn SL1.

Edit: Sorry I didn't mention this is an automatic.

5spd's are easy to shut off, hold the brake put it in any gear and drop the clutch.
Not sure what you can do in an automatic...must be a fuse to pull, maybe "IP BATT" in the underhood fuse box.

This doesn't fix needing to replace the ignition cylinder though. This thread may help with that: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=169876

PCM-B fuse?

Make sure shifter is solidly in Park, wiggle steering wheel, see if that allows the key to turn?

Pulling the PCM-B fuse stopped it.

Thanks Everyone.

sometimes a drop of oil in the lock cylinder will free it up

they tend to stick intermittently-- mine did so in the parking lot of the dealere before i bought it in 2008 (@150kMI) , and still does.

Wiggling the wheel and occasional lubrication of the cylinder, help.

The cylinder needs to slide In/Out, as well as rotate.

Graphite is better, does not gum up.

Tho, I have wondered if dry Teflon (PTFE poly tetra fluoro ethelene) may be even better.

+1 on Graphite. I wouldn't put anything wet in there.
