Default Key stuck in ignition ,can't remove it.

parked the car and i wasn't able to remove the key from ignition,stuck in on position.now the battery is drained.
any idea what could be the problem ?thx

id jump the car to get it running and play with the shifter to make sure its in park. im thinking ignition switch doesnt know its in park..

thanks for the answer,i bought a new battery because the old one was bad,but the key is still stuck,can't even turn the key.tried to put the shifter in every position but key doesn't move.
asked the dealer he said take it in ,but probably im looking at 800$ if they have to change the cylinder. wtf ?
where is the ignition switch is it easily accessible ?

that seems like alot. im not sure if something has to be done with immobilizer key system if you replace lock cylinder. thinking maybe it would need new keys and programming. dealers like to charge alot for programming if they can.
