2004 VUE V. 2004 Subaru 2.5XT
Realizing there is going to be bias here...I decided to ask what everyone thought in a comparison between the Subaru 2.5XT and the Saturn VUE (with the Honda V6). I imagine the two will be close in terms of performance, with the advantage going to the XT due to the fact that it has a manual transmission option. (Which is to say nothing of the fact that Car and Driver tested it at 5.3 0-60 and 13.8 in the 1/4 mile). The Saturn will be heavier (3600 v. 3200)...so that's a negative.... However, the Saturn will run on 87 octane gas....and deliver better MPGs to boot... I hate the rear drum brakes on the Saturn....but I imagine there is or will be some kit to fix that in the future. So here is where I need help: what acceleration times are we looking at. According to the company, it will be approximately 7 seconds...but I hate approximate. According to Cadillac, their upcoming CTS with a 3.6L V6 that puts out 255HP and 252tq...the car will run 0-60 in 6.2. That is the closest I can get to horsepower and weight for comparison. That's much better than the figure of 7 seconds... What do you guys think?
Secondly, there was a rumor that Saturn would offer a supercharger option? Any truth to that? If that's the case...I would camp outside of my saturn dealer until I got one...but I digress.
I would appreciate any comments on the subject...especially if someone knows anything about the supercharger option.
