Default Bad wheel bearing.. what part do I need?

car is a 2001 saturn l200

Think the wheel bearing is going bad on my front left wheel. When I drive on smooth roads it sounds like there's a wobbling noise/like im going over a wavy surface or something similar, so i think it's the wheel bearing. i still need to do the 3/9 and 12/6 test..

anyway, do i need a separate bearing and wheel hub or do i need the assembly? are they interchangeable? i have used the parts compatibility tool on sites like oreilly/autozone with varying results. oreilly wants to sell me separate bearing + hub while autozone says i need an assembly. the only difference i can see is that the assembly is much more expensive than just buying the bearing and hub.

if i can use the assembly, do i still need a shop press for anything? i watched a chrisfix video of him replacing a bearing on a mercury mountaineer and there wasn't any press involved so i'm guessing its an assembly. any ideas?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Welcome to SaturnFans!

Be sure that it is a bad bearing giving you the noise and not a failing CV joint. As far as the parts are concerned, you don't necessarily have to replace the hub unless it's been damaged. Of course, you can't do any harm by replacing the hub. The is no hub assembly per se for the front axle which is similar in any sense to the rear wheel hub assemblies. The parts are sold by some suppliers as a kit of separate pieces.

Regardless of what this video showed on a Mountaineer, the L Series front wheel bearings need to be removed and installed via a press, there are no other options. (It's possible that the shop performing the press work may inform you that they need a new hub because damage to the original hub is unavoidable during removal. This is merely a guess at a possibility, nothing more. Nevertheless, consult with the shop which may do the press work if you are doing this job yourself.)
