1998 SW2
Dizzy Brake light ground issue

I'm on a tight schedule here so I need help ASAP!

After a heavy rain, I was driving home when suddenly my car died. Unable to use blinkers, hazards, etc. I was able to coast off of the highway and back to my house, but it is currently undriveable.

I'm 95% that it's the brake lights. With the car off, lights off, and keys in the ignition, the turning signals work. Hazards light it up like a Christmas tree; front turning signals alternate blinking with the brake lights. With the lights off, the car starts just fine. Pressing the brakes will stall the engine leaving a rich fuel smell.

I think a splice pack got wet from a bad seal and shorted out. Where is the rear splice pack? I don't have the time to just pull everything from my car so please help!!!

It's a 98 Saturn SW2.

Given it's location I'd sooner think one of the bulb's on the hatch shorted out.
Between the driver side strut tower and hatch, on the floor under the carpeting.

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Thank you! That helps A LOT

As a test, I pulled the tail lights off. The car works without them and doesn't show signs of electrical failure (except for the burned out turning signal hyper blink). Judging from that diagram, the splice pack is right where I found a damp spot in the carpet.

The fuel pump grounds into that splice pack, which may explain why the engine dies when you hit the brakes (and unintentionally shut off the fuel pump).
