What year and model? A blow gun with compressed air on those drains to double check but do not go full blast...The drain on early SL use these rubber door flaps in the wiper cowling that do not work very well in heavy rain and may spill over into the inside of the car. The later 2000 and up are redesigned and handle heavy rain better.

Can you tell me where exactly is the location of those rubber door flaps in wiper cowling?
I mean should I remove both wipers to reach there?

Also, check the donut seal under the hood near the windshield on the passenger side. This is the fresh air intake for the HVAC and has an oval, flexible seal on the cowl. These can disintegrate or disappear.

I had a terrible problem with water on my 99 SC1 passenger side floor for a long time.

The A/C drain tube was not blocked, but it seems as if the seal at the firewall was deteriorated. It was a piece of foam, and the water was dribbling out the end of the drain tube, back down into the evaporator housing.

Basically I just got a piece of plumbers putty, and formed a new seal on the tube to firewall. This was over 5 years ago now, and not a drop has made its way in since.

Good luck on finding on your problem and solution.

Since this seems to come up a lot I made this to clarify the areas.

This is in addition to the photo that Lamping.ap put up that shows the other common area. The ZOHC car he shows is unique though!

Thanks I think problem is fixed. Not sure what was the source of leak?

1. I cleaned sunroof drain towards bottom of car.
2. Cleaned ac drain
3. fixed that oval mesh cover towards passenger side.

still conufsed about cowl drains...
when we remove wiper assembly to replace wiper motor there are two holes with rubber flap attached ...I guess those are the cowl drains?

Thanks everyone.

Usually the cause is the oval mesh screen. I've really never understood the point of the thing, as it can be completely covered up if desired. On most cars all it does is allow a little underhood air to possibly mix with the fresh air in the vent system.

The cowl drains should be the ones you describe. I found that firewall photo and used it as it makes the location easier to find. The rubber flap is just one of the versions of the drain.

that screen is exposed even when the hood is closed so if water's not supposed to enter it why is it exposed? when the hood is closed you can see the opening. this makes no sense. if water enters it does it go to the evaporator case & drain out the a/c drain? if so that would be a great way to flush out any dirt/debris in the evaporater case while clearing the drain of any obstructions...

i had this mystery leak......turned out to be the water pump....? does that make sense.....? lol, well, when i flushed my coolant, and replaced the leaky water pump, it went away.....dont know what solved it actually....but if i recall, i did the flush/exchange first...at a quick lube shop....then couple months later did the water pump...and yea, check your window guides too, make sure your window isn't leaking?
