Well, my iPad has been out of commision, but if you want updates on the car, then go here:

http://www.twogearheadsracing.com

The site's coding isn't perfect, as I'm teaching myself HTML to run it. It's definitely a work in progress.

OK, so I finally got some Loctite 515 via Amazon. It's a really small tube. Will it be enough for the whole tranny?

You lay down a continuous thin thread all the way around that flange, circle the 5 bolt holes around the differential and inside of all other bolt holes. Center the bead 1-3mm wide on the mating flange. What size tube did you order?

Is that 6ml?, should be. Probably enough as it is thin and watery and the bead only has to be 1 to 3 mm wide and 1mm is plenty.

1 mm = 0.039" or 1/25th inch

Oh... OK.

Do I use it on the fifth gear cover also? Or can that be RTV?

Preferably you use the actual gasket there. RTV works too.

So.... what happens when you seal the case halves with RTV?

It is too thick and you have clearance problems, just like you will have if you use RTV on the 5th gear cover. Get the correct gasket or make one out of a grocery bag and very thinly coat both sides with RTV so it does not leak/seep. Spread the RTV with a razor blade and you want to be able to see through it. Cut gasket with a ball pein hammer.

The 515 will make a 0.001 to 0.002 thick seal between those flanges, that is why you do not need much. Don't try and make a round bead with it just hold tube near vertical and lay down that single thin bead tip wide and very thin.

Lots of things are available at the FLAPS. When it comes to bearings that are very difficult to replace I tend to go to a quality bearing suppler and go with the high quality - high dollar bearing.

Hey everyone, sorry about the lack of updates! Been in school, and now am currently looking for a new job, as my current workplace is closing in 9 days.

Will be hopefully tearing into the car soon.
