Default 2004 ion security light (+ignition switch)

Hello,

i had several problems in starting my car (ion 2004) these past days because of the temperature outside.
I have done some research and concluded that my ignition switch needed to be replace, as each time i tried to start the car, the security light started to flash.
After 10 minutes, it would stop and I was able (if lucky) to start the car.

Today, I have replaced the ignition switch, but as i wanted to relearn the passlock, when I tried to start the car, the car quickly started but stalled right after.

On the console, the passlock light flashes 2-3 times, then stays ON.

Waited 10 minutes, and the light is still ON.
Is there a way to fix this?
When I try to start the car again, it does the same thing: seems to start, but stalls after a second, passlock light flashes and then stays on.

What should I do?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Isn't one of the main steps to wait until security light turns off?
Maybe there is a way to restart the procedures.

If you switched out the ignition switch, did the passlock procedure and your car starts then shuts off like you have described then it sounds like the passlock did not work. Try it again and if you have any question of if you didn't do it right then try again

If the car more or less worked before then it should now if done right.

30-Minute Learn ProcedureImportant: Do not remove the key from the ignition during this procedure. If the key is removed, the procedure will have to be performed from the beginning.

 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. The vehicle will not start.
 3. Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
 5. Repeat steps 1–4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or password.
 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.
