I just replaced my alternator on the 2.2l manual at 244,000 miles. Not too bad considering. It was by far the easiest alternator replacement I've ever had the displeasure of replacing. One screw removed holding the airbox, disconnect the battery, one bolt holding the positive on the alternator, remove the belt, disconnect the wire harness, three bolts holding it to the motor, and replace.
I've done a few Hondas, Toyotas, Cavaliers, Sunbirds, and this was by far the easiest. Dang, under an hour for me, an untrained backyarder. I choked at the $150 part, but damn it was easy. Am sure I saved a few on labor!
