Default Calling Macgyver & Alordofchaos for Detroit Junkyards....

I'm looking at headed up this weekend **hopefully** to Detroit to pick up these beauties and the center console for the Vue

And am wanting to look at some of the JY up there for S-Series parts & Vue parts....(coming from Chicago area to Detroit)

1) Saw any Vues in the JY lately?
2) Yards to hit.... are:

LKQ-Kalamazoo
Miechiels Auto Salvage in Howell. 517-546-4111
"The Saturn Farm" Cass City Mi (Van Dyke Rd, Cass City) 810 656-3056
Acres auto parts in Waterford

Parts Galore LLC
11360 East 8 Mile Road, Detroit, MI
Parts Galore LLC
14533 Telegraph Road, South Rockwood, MI
Parts Galore LLC
5970 west Warren Ave

3) Is this price list about the right pricing for Parts Galore?

4) Alordofchaos- where was the 99 HCE that you saw so that I can hopefully grab VIN and such off it it?
...

You could spend all day just at the three Parts Galores

I hit two of them the same day, started early and by 5:00 or so, was done looking. I don't even think I saw the whole GM area for the first one I stopped at - my wheelbarrow was full, so I just left

Prices look right (there are pics of their price wall and I don't think they change them much)

This is where I saw the HCE - one of the nearest JY to me, but still a good 30~40 minutes away - $2 admission, IIRC, and no Vues that I recall (I haven't been back there yet, not sure if I can make it again this year) -in Mason, MI, probably out of your way

It's only 30 minutes out of my way..... what all did they have for S-series while you were there....

I am thinking its going to be worth a shot (seeing their pricing)
at least to get the tag off of the door.....if you did not grab the cluster i would pick that up for the steal also....

I think Parts Galore separates the SUVís and cars because I donít ever remember seeing a Vue in the S series area I pick through. I could walk through the other areas, but have always stayed in the GM area which is just cars.

Yay, you are coming through my backyard! Always love meeting fellow saturn owners. Don't need any parts for my car ATM, but I love going through junk yards/you pull places.

lol, send me a PM with your # might hit you up..... (I need to see how timing and that goes......)

It looks like we (at least myself) are taking the Outlook up (only thing that will fit the seats in there, picking up all 3 is the plan) and then fiddling around in a couple junkyards up that way....

Coming from LaPorte it's 3.5 hrs so if I leave at 6am (central) I am in Detroit by 10:30 (have to wait at the JY for them to pull my seats..... figure about 2 hrs.... hopefully)

Prestige auto parts 20500 Mound Rd 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
then right down the road from Prestige I have:
Parts Galore LLC 11360 East 8 Mile Road, Detroit, MI (kill the time while Prestige is pulling parts) 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

then hit up maybe another Parts Galore.....

then to
U Pull and Save 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
and then see where I go from there......

** Yes I will be Yard hopping A LOT is the plan :P **

Sweet!

I see they changed their Inventory page - they used to put xxxxx for the serial numbers - looks like the HCE's serial number is listed right there (only one green '99 sedan but they have it listed as an SL1...). It's nice that they list the row now, too! They have a real building now with sink and bathroom, before this year it used to be just a trailer with a port-a-potty out back

I did grab the HCE's cluster and badges, will probably use it on my white SC2 eventually

Thought I would give an update to everything

I am the proud new owner of a Set of Vue Ebony Seats (for those who don't know... this was the only way to get black seats on the vue.... and only on the Redline Models..... They are much better seats (more bolstering) and very comfy)

Arrived in Detroit at 12 and was at Prestige Auto Parts for about 30 minutes looking/talking/ buying these.....

The gal at the counter recognized me right away, saying "You here for the Vue Seats?" making me ask how did she know..... "Well you don't look like you fit in here"........ Me a country-bumpkin wearing (steel) mill greens, t-shirt, & camo cap, not fitting into Detroit haha

Went to Parts Galore (8 Mile Road) 12:30-2:35

Prices Went up like a buck or so.... but about the same.....

Yep, SUV's are in different area I did not even venture into them because of time

I was able to get a decent number of parts for S-series & a couple things for L-series.... prices were decent.... I paid the buck to rent the wheel barrow and it was well worth it... was stacked to the brim.... (I have a $5 off coupon for the next year, if I go there again) I'm glad y'all posted about these a while back.....

Current Cars in JY (rough idea):

3 2nd gen wagons
10 1st Gen SLs
4 1st Gen SCs
4 2nd Gen SCs
2 3rd Gen
8 2nd Gen SLs
3 Ions
4 L-series
1 Red Vue (on the end-cap of SUVs)
NOTE: There is a very nice condition 91-93 leather Like this but leather steering wheel in there (all you need is a steering wheel puller.... I took off the bolt ect..... and my STUPID harbor freight puller would not pull it off )

Sadly, iamdigitalman and I could of not connected

2:40-3:10
Stopped at Prestige and quickly loaded seats/belts/carpet/RL floormats and they just about forgot my center console (I paid $30 for that thing.... they better include it haha)

It took about an hour to get to U Pull & Save

4:15
Did not get to Check the HCE..... but RAN into the yard and started pulling my black vue doors (they only had 1... the other one was silver) MAN I MY DEWALT IMPACT I was able to get off the 2 doors in about 30 minutes the grabbed some more things outta the Vue and low and behold what's setting there in the back

AMAZING FIND

I looked on the Silver one and it had one also I was so pumped..... We tried to go very slowly so that the 2 doors would not drop and then we had fun trying to get it all to fit in the Outlook (Mom's Car)

This is the final outcome:

Thank you so much alordofchaos for the tip of this JY

So in regards to:

Yeah, just a bit

I was able to get my Vue Redline Seats, 2 color matching door panels, console and carpet for my Vue.... and then a bunch of S-series & L-series parts.....

Sadly, I did not get to go to all the JYs I wanted to..... but I came out well anyways..... heck saved me from spending an extra 200ish I would say....

But thank you to the Saturn Community for helping me sponsor my addiction especially alordofchaos for helping me grab my Black Vue door skins in good conditions
