Default LED interior dome bulb

I wanted to swap my regular dome light bulb with an LED one. I'm not sure what size to buy? The original one have a wire loop one each end and I didn't see any like that! Most just have a round cap on each end or they plug in.

Modify the clips to take a festoon bulb. All it takes is a 1/8 to 5/32 hole in each tab.

I just bought the bulb they listed for the dome light.

It was only $6.

It is very bright, illuminating the entire cabin at night with ease. I love it, and I love their website.

This is the bulb I bought, and it fits fine with no modifying.

Use this one, no modifying.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...d-festoon/244/

The near white is as bright or brighter than stock. I used the amber...

Careful with the dome light, plastic is very brittle....

Look up dome light is the bulb finder on the SuperBrite site and it gives you the number, then find the equivalent. I didn't know they had started building the loop end festoon bulbs either.

Now do the lights behind the speedometer and tachometer,
make them a nice pretty color instead of white....

For Gen 1 and 2

http://www.superbrightleds.com/searc...products/pc74/

I did the turn signals and DRL in green (three needed)
the high beam in blue (one)
the back lights (six needed, two opera, two by turn signals, and two behind gauges....)

actually richpin has a video of him replacing his regular bulb with this led light. it's not really brighter (maybe slightly) just a color difference. even richpin seemed to think so.....

Glad to help!

I've not noticed any difference when dimming the dome light, but I haven't looked. Tell you what, wait a few hours, and I'll go see and tell you after it's dark here.

EDIT: Oh wait. You have a 3rd-gen. Mine's 2nd, so it doesn't have that feature. Someone else will have to chime in.

I did replace the TRAC and FOG lights above the radio, and they dim with the dimmer. Good thing, too, because they are BRIGHT (I love it!). I don't know if that applies to the dome light, but the diodes appear similar.

LED's take a minuscule amount of current to turn on, if it's staying lit that means there's a wiring problem.

it glows dimly just because of the low draw. the car's bcm is designed to dim a regular bulb, not an led... other's report this same problem, but I don't know what they do to correct the problem...

BC---oh yeah 3rd gen idiocy >.< lol

Might work to add a resistor across the terminals across the "dark side" of the LED. Dunno on value, I'd guess 500ohm's...just enough to make the circuit act like it's got a standard bulb in there.

sorry to be a jerk but LED's take a miniscule amount of voltage to turn on, around 0.7V. enough current (reverse bias) will turn them on, but only briefly, and very on! it certainly won't be on dimly after that

but yes, it does indicate a wiring issue, the circuit should be dead (0V, 0A) with doors closed and lights off.

I used a replacement LED from superbrightleds.com and it turns off completely when doors close, and flashes 3x when I use the RKE lock feature, and will do the fade to dark thing.

What I did was get three of these LED bulbs and wire them three across by soldering them with thin copper wire. The center bulb sits in the holder with the other 2 suspended on each side. It costs more, but then you get way more light. You then will not get the dim light when it is supposed to be off. I also used one of these in the trunk of my SC2 and it worked great.
