Default Need to close sunroof stuck in vent position

My sunroof is stuck open and I would like to close it one more time and leave it.

I've searched the forum and could not quite find the answer. I took the map light and headliner down. It doesn't look like there is a manual screw to close the sunroof.

The motor works. At first both rear sides stayed up. After running the motor close and pressing down on the driver's side of the sunroof, that corner has come down. However, the passenger side is still stuck up.

I don't want to repair/replace...just close it once and for all.

Please help.

Thanks.

The guides probably broke. It's a known issue. There are people who sell stronger replacements.

But, for temporary use, what I did was drop remove the glass and muscle the guides closed (rearward) then reinstall the glass.

I feel your pain, luckily I got an aftermarket replacement with metal guides so I'm good to go. Saturn made a mistake putting plastic guides in a sunroof that has large surface area...

Anyway, if it's in the vented position you can get a long screwdriver and try to pry the plastic pieces sticking up (holding the glass up) towards the rear of the car to put them down, thus putting the glass down.

Hope this helps.

Since I don't know where and what the guides look like, I'm going to remove the glass per Sallydriver (I've found the torx screws) and look for these guides. Do I just push them down with my finger?

That's what I had to do. I wasn't home, so it was tough.

If what you're talking about is getting the glass down once it's in vented position, the picture I attached shows the plastic pin holder type thing that you need to pry down in the red circle.

Actually, contrary to what I said before, I think you would need to push lower part of it to the front of the car to drop the glass into place.

Let me know if there's any more confusion.

The guides run along the sides of the sunroof assembly, once you take the glass off they're not hard to miss

Thanks for the picture. I'm going to work on it this weekend. Good thing it's still summer.

I was able to close the sunroof.

I removed the glass, power the sunroof to the closed position, and then used a large flat blade screwdriver and hammer to tap the back of the guide forward.

I disconnected the power wire so the sunroof doesn't get accidentally opened.

Thanks again to sallydriver and dougalldc3000!!

Glad to hear you got it closed. Also glad to help.

When mine broke, I didn't even know this forum existed.

It was pouring rain too, so I had to figure all that out while soaked in a dress suit.

If you ever want to repair your sunroof, check these guys out. They explain why the sunroof fails, and what their solution is. I've heard nothing but positive things about them, and their fix is a permanent one.
