Wrench Windshield wiper short?

I have a 98 SL1 and yesterday I noticed washer fluid shooting out the nozzles if I run the wipers at high speed.

If I click mist, it will go through three cycles.

If I click wash, it goes through one cycle and barely any fluid comes out the nozzle.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

sounds like the multi-function switch is toast.

The washers are controlled by the microprocessor control in the wiper motor. Problem could be in the multifunction switch or the wiper motor.

Richpin has a great video on testing the resistance values of the multifunction switch. You can test this fairly quickly. Since changing out the switch involves pulling the steering wheel (and thus the air bag), and since it's an expensive part, you want to test before going forward. My money is on the wiper motor/logic board. When those go bad, the wipers will do crazy things.

I am not sure if the saturnfans site went down after I posted this because I was unable to get the page to come up... Anyway here I am today and it seems as though the problem corrected itself. I don't believe it fixed itself but the problem is not there at the moment.

Looks like it's been over a month since you posted about the problem. Does this mean the problem has been gone the entire time, or...?
