Default I think I fried the computer

while trying to jump my 2005 ion (left the lights on, d'oh!) i was jostling around the jumper cables, and when i went to start it, i got an "error" message on the display and the it totally died. it's a manual and it wont even go with a push and pop the clutch. it tries to run but it just sputters and dies, and none of the lights on the display come on. do you folks think i fried the computer or could it be a fuse?? thanks so much!

Did you try looking for blown fuses first? They're there for a reason and mistakes with booster cables can blow fuses.

Where did you boost from, engine side or trunk? Leaving lights on doesn't cause problems other than a slight battery drain. There's a RED designated battery post (covered?) in the engine area for jump starting. Battery negative on the engine block.

These cars can't be pop started unless you disable passlock by fixing the key, it requires enough juice to try starting the engine without killing the electronics. Check your fuses, probably fried computer(s)

Update!!! I let it sit for an hour or so, to let it (and myself) cool off. Went back, turned the key, got a little power back, jumped it the rest of the way with the gf's van, and now it's purring like a kitten! I guess it just had a little tantrum and needed to reset itself. I appreciate all the input though! Thanks again!!!
