Default Ls100 fuel leak (tank issue)

2000 Ls100 2.2 320k miles well maintained. still a very pretty car.

Smell of gas from the rear wheelwells rolled under the car , do not see any damage or leaks on the tank, In fact the entire undercarriage is in good condition. Smell is highest after the car has been driven. just sitting flat , no smell at all

So are there any areas on the tank on the L series that are known to break down /wear/leak before I pull this very shiny good looking tank out of the car?
