Default What does your L200 Temp Gauge Read?

I swear my temp gauge on my 2002 l200 2.2. would never get close to half way? Lately it has been about 75 in Chicago and its consistently right in the middle at idle or a just barely under half when driving. So im curious where your temp sits at operating temp?

Thanks

Half way between 1/4 and 1/2 regardless of speed, stop and go, outside temp or length of drive.

Default Re: What does your L200 Temp Gauge Read?

The temperature is varying somewhat on warmer days, from the upper 70's or so. When in motion and without the A/C on, the temperature gauge needle is typically between 1/4 and 1/2. When stopped at a traffic signal the temperature creeps towards half, but drops back below when moving again. On very warm days, high 80's and 90's, the gauge needle will ride near 1/2.

The first time I saw what you've described with my LS 1 was before my first replacement of the thermostat several years ago. Once that was replaced the operating temperature dropped down again to between 1/4 and 1/2. However, this temperature issue has been happening since some time last Summer even after replacing the thermostat. (I'm satisfied that it's functioning normally at present.) It just now makes me think that I may be having an issue with the fan/s not engaging as they ought to since my previous experience had been that the temperature gauge had held steadily at about "3/8" until outside temps were very high. I've never had any kind of service light illuminated on this car ever so I'm not yet sure what to think of this.....hmm....food for thought.

Thank you for bringing up the question!
