Default 1-2 Shift solenoid removal

Hi everyone, new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with my uncles 2007 Vue Green Line. It never goes into 1st gear and the charge assist is not working. I read the following 4 codes:
1174-fuel trim cylinder balance malfunction
0420-catalyst system low efficiency
0700-Transmission control system malfunction
0974-1-2 Shift Solenoid Control Circuit High Voltage

The dealer wants to change:
Valve Body $1200
Harness $67
TCM $150

The dealer noted that the 1-2 Shift Solenoid was internally shorted. My suspicion is that I could put a new solenoid in and it will be fine. I have not gotten under the car yet so i have no idea how involved a process it will be to get to the solenoid. Does anyone here know?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
