The glass on my passenger side exterior mirror started shaking and jiggling, so I had a chance to pull it off and epoxy it back in place. So far it's holding.

Count me amongst those that have had this happen too! Was driving out my road when I looked and the glass was just "hanging", I pulled over to get it, and it fell as I was walking around the car. Luckily I was at the shoulder where there was really soft sand and it kerplunked into the sand and was fine.

Consensus for reattaching is to hit up a glass place? My first instinct was to get some JB weld or something of that nature...

Mine came off today. Has anyone bothered reporting this to GM?

I'm sure GM has seen plenty of these cars come in with these problems. About a month after I bought my car the passenger side started shaking as I drove down the highway, and it kept getting worse and worse. I looked at it closer and could move the glass by hand, so I lifted it off and had it reattached at a local auto glass place for $20. 2 weeks ago the drivers side started doing the same, so I got it reattached as well.

Very fortunate I caught both sides before they fell off and broke. The shaking at highway speed seems to be the telltale sign that your glass has started to loosen - if you notice it, get it fixed before it breaks.

This definitely should not be happening though.

I paid something like $25 for glass attached to the plastic frame with the wires for the defrost. So don't worry if the glass falls off, just order a new part and snap it in place.

Mine fell off my passenger side on Friday. After I looked closely, I see that the driver side had been replaced before as well. I hopped on eBay and bought one mirror with the adhesive backing for 20 bucks and no shipping. Autozone wanted 45 and they only had the driver side and the Saturn dealer wanted closer to 70 dollars. Just stick to eBay and most of the auctions have free shipping.

My passenger side mirror fell off as well. Replaced it with the $20 version from ebay. Dealer wanted $125 after tax + installation.

Checked mine today and both were loose. I carefully removed them and then reattached using 3M double sided tape.

If GM knows about this and is doing nothing, they should be ashamed of themselves.

How are the original mirrors adhered? Is it 3M tape, or just an adhesive?

There was very little left, but I believe it was thin black double sided tape. You can see it in the picture of the back of the mirrors.

The video of the replacements you can buy shows instillation using black double sided tape. Guy on the video says "this is the same tape the factory uses".

I may have gone overboard with the tape. An F350 Super Duty could not pull mine off now.

Here's the black double sided tape that the replacement mirrors probably use. I found this at True Value for another project.

I put side molding on my other car recently and this was the DS tape that came with the molding.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this happen. I found my passenger mirror shattered into tiny pieces by the front tire of my wife's car. Luckily, I was able to clean it up before she left for work, or I would have had another mess to clean up.

Well my passenger mirror just fell off today after my girlfriend closed the door at a pretty relaxed speed. I've been looking around and this post definitely makes it seem easy enough to do by myself, but I found a $20 replacement on amazon and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with amazon's replacement mirror
