2000 SL2
Thumbs Up I installed a VUE cluster & modded it w/blue LEDs

Well, I started off with a Torrent Instrument cluster, but couldn't get it modded with blue LEDs.

The VUE cluster works perfect in my 2000 SL2. I changed the 4 bulbs in back with blue LEDs, and also changed out the odometer light with a blue LED. I used 8.4D bulbs, and had to pinch the contacts a little closer to each other.

Here is my car...everything off. (Daytime)

Daytime, w/the ignition forward.

Daytime, w/the headlights on (low beam).

Night time, w/the headlights on (low beam).

Thumbs Up Re: I installed a VUE cluster & modded it w/blue LEDs

what year of vue did that come off of? it's the same setup as the cluster in my '03 vue, but i like the way that one looks a lot better. i also modded my cluster with blue led's, however my needles turned blue too, i like that you got those one's to stay red...

What about the odometer? I guess you could try to find one close to the same mileage?

Great looking mod!

It may just be the pics, but the Odo bulb looks way bright. Not sure if there is anything out there that would be lower output, and still be blue though.

Anyone else do this? I'm about to purchase the LED's now and wanted to know if I should go with high power LED's or regular ones. I'm also thinking of doing the turn signals, DRL and high beam.

Is this just a straight swap of clusters or does any modifications have to be made? I'm really wanting to try this if I can find a vue at the jy this weekend.

For which car? Presuming your profile is up to date, it's a straight swap with the 2002, and pretty-much impossible with the 1999.

Where did you order your leds? Are they available in green? How hard is it to switch to the leds?

I ordered them from superbrightleds yesterday. Green is available. I ordered a couple green for the turn signals. The size I bought is 8.4d. Not sure how hard its going to be. From a thread I found and a couple others it seems it can be tricky. I'm on my phone, but if you Google 'the definitive guide to gen3 s series instrument cluster bulb replacement saturnfans.com' that's what I'm going off of.

So the 8.4d's are too small. They do not fit securely in place. Will be sending them back in exchange for the 8.5d's.
