2001 L-Series 2.2L Sedan
Question Model Designation Help

Hey guys, last week I purchased a 2001 Saturn 4 door sedan. The dealer ad listed the vehicle as a SL2, but after much reading online I'm led to believe it may be a L200. The owners manual only says L-Series on the cover, can't find any tags on the body that specify the model. The vehicle has 15" alloy rims, pw/pl, tilt/cruise, am/fm/cd, no sunroof, 2.2L 4cyl engine. Any suggestions will be appreciated, then I can be more specific about other issues I have questions about.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

I believe you are correct that you have a 2001 Saturn L200. You can enter the VIN here to confirm this.

Thanks ruley, just wanting to make sure it's titled correctly. My insurance receipt also says L200, going to check into the other papers.

You could go to the L-Series and the S-Series forums and look for pics. The 2 models look very different from each other.

Thanks daver, will check into that also. I'm feeling pretty confident in saying I have an L200 after checking into things more, especially the VIN and several other pointers I have read on this site

Having a anything not a 1.9L I4 means it's either not an S-Series or one of the very rare "end-user" enginge swapped ones.
I believe the 200's were 2.2 I4 engines and the 300's were 3.0 V6's.

Thanks everyone, I'm satisfied now in saying that I do believe I have an L200. Now to begin working on taking care of the various minor bugs. I have a door switch on the way that should take care of the interior light issue. A few drops of silicone seemed to have cured the leaky trunk.
