Diagnostic computer codes 301 and 507
Model: 1999 Saturn SL1
Error codes on 301 and 507 on Cylinder 1
Information below suggest replacing manifold gaskets
The defect mentioned below implied the year 2002
P0507 Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected .
Test the IAC valve. Clean it and it's port if it tests out OK.
It turned out to be the intake manifold gasket..was torn in two and allowing air to pass by..causing all my headaches. Thanks a bunch. Debbie
The P301 is a misfire on cylinder #1. the P507 is idle RPM >100RPM above PCM commanded. Those 2 codes together are the symptoms of an original factory defect in installing the intake manifold gasket. When you change it you will find that it has a fold in it right at the #1 Cylinder. Sucks air and leans out #1 so that it will not fire. The additional air runs up the RPM.

Re: Diagnostic computer codes 301 and 507
Issue is known for 2000-2002 SOHC engines. Not sure it is common on a 99 model. But, a simple test might confirm. With the engine running at idle, spray a short blast of throttle body or brake cleaner at the junction between the intake manifold and head at the # 1 cylinder (passenger end of engine). If the idle speed changes when you spray, the gasket is leaking.
